Gm tribe — welcome to a new series of articles, Monkeez Memos. Team updates from time to time about all things happening in our ecosystem both from us and our amazing community.
Our team has been hard at work in this bear market since our last update, with overwhelming excitement and lots to cover. Let’s dive in.
Zungle Posterz
From the start, the Zungle has always been about community — and what’s better than showcasing the community talents. After all, we have very talented community members. Art contests are fun, and with our first community contest (#BuildaMonkee) going well, we decided to run it back with a new ongoing community art initiative.
Zungle Posterz is a monthly art contest where community members can submit poster submissions and winners will have their work minted as a part of the collections. This collection aims to manifest the fun and excitement of trading and collecting concert posters of your favorite bands to our corner of the avalanche network.
Winners of this contest are voted on by the community in our discord, so make sure you keep up to date with those announcements on our socials. For fairness’s sake, an artist cannot win more than once in a three month period to give everyone a fair chance, but they are more then welcome to enter as many times as they like.
The first two months of this contest have already come to a close. August had some great works submitted, with a winning piece by Wrathtank and a runner-up by Arrogant. Check out both of their works below.
September’s submissions have just wrapped up (closed September 5th), with our two finalists being Gengar and Arrogant. Stay tuned for voting and minting details including price and supply. Check out their poster submissions below as well.
Wrathtank had another submission for September, but unfortunately it won’t be eligible for entry since he won the previous month. Don’t worry, we’ve got another plan for what we’re going to do with his piece, since he did a great job.
All Posterz will cost $MNKZ to mint (price may vary) and will be limited in supply. These items along with other collectibles will affect your Zungle Score just as holding Monkeez and Zoogz. More details on Zungle Score updates can be found below.
Zungle Score Updates
Zungle Score is an ever-growing metric for all things in the Zungle. Scoring is made up of a combination of ecosystem NFTs held and activities a user performs within the Zungle to achieve an end result. You can read all about the initial scoring metrics here.
When the Zungle expands, so does the Zungle Score. Our latest ecosystem updates have introduced a new collection: Zungle Landz — NFTs built by the landlord. Updated scoring metrics have not been released yet, but here is a quick summary of updates coming:
- Points for owning Landz
- Points for building on Landz
- Points for engaging in Zoog Battlez
- Points for collectibles held like Zungle Posterz
- Points for questing
- Points for crafting
All of these updates aim to cultivate a new kind of community member — the activity whale. Whale status for NFT collections has traditionally coincided with large bag holdings, but there are several dedicated community members contributing to our ecosystem in other ways besides holding the most NFTs. Activity within the ecosystem will be rewarded and this score will be used much more in competitions and given rewards.
Zungle Landz
Landz are the latest addition to the Zungle, expanding our ecosystem by allowing you to build and grow your plot as you see fit. The mint for this collection is currently still live and outperforming our expectations for percentages minted by the community.
This collection really changes our world from a PFP collection with companions to a gamified ecosystem built on top of a character that we all know and love. Your Monkeez are the leaders of the Zungle and work hard for those tokens.

This land collection centers around the individual land plot, and this plot intentionally starts blank. It’s up to you, the land owner, to unlock tiles and grow this plot with buildings and other things to engage in new activities within the Zungle. These activities will expand content you engage with as you discover all that this world has to offer. Here is some fun to look forward to:

- Updates to Zoog Battlez
Building
Building is the best way to increase your exposure within the ecosystem. As you level your plot, you’ll be able to build more structures on your tiles increasing your interaction within the ecosystem and other community members. Each building has different functionality, whether it be crafting, harvesting, etc, so build wisely depending on your interests and choices of other land owners.
Harvesting Resources
Remember resources from our last update? Landz come in 6 different biomes, each one governing the pool of spawnable resources for that plot. Not all biome plots are created the same.
Missing certain resources? Not a problem. You’ll be able to obtain certain resources in other ways, but you might need to make it to that stage of the Zungle first. Perseverance shall be rewarded.
Crafting
Crafting is the intermediary between the resource layer and the item layer. Combine unique recipes of resources to craft different items of varying tiers for use within the ecosystem. Items can and will be used with Monkeez and Zoogz as they perform different activities such as questing, battling, etc to provide potential advantages or boosts.

Updates to Zoog Battlez
Landz introduces lots of new development to the Zungle, and so Zoog Battlez will be changing a bit. Some community members have suggested some updates and our team has some updates of our own, but here is some of what’s to come as we grow:
- Matchmaking
- Upped token limits
- Powerups
- Moves
- NPCs
- Teams
- Bosses
Currently Zoog Battlez are the only way within the Zungle of gaining more $MNKZ outside of claiming per Monkee, so get battling and increase that Z score while gaining some tokens along the way.

Salvor
Salvor just launched a new pooling system for offers with rarity, and Monkeez is included within this. Now you can have different pools for the different tribes. Fun stuff!
Minifridge recently sat down with their team talking all things Zungle and creating an ecosystem on top of a PFP project. You can find a recording of their space below.
Closing
If you made it this far, we appreciate you reading. There’s a lot going on in the Zungle and we want to make sure you can find it all in one place. The Landz collection is incredibly fun to build and going to be more fun to get it in the hands of the tribe.
Sometimes the bear can be tough, but trust us when we say we don’t build anything without purpose. Every idea from the note in Mini’s phone is carefully planned, thought out, and analyzed from all angles so that we can build something meaningful for our tribe. Several ideas never even made it to mainnet since they just didn’t make sense.
